I am asked sometimes why there is so little prefabricated construction in this area of Oregon. My response, always, is that I have the same question. I suspect that the answer is that locally it is pretty much synonymous with manufactured housing intended mostly for parks being brought onto a piece of land on wheels and then having a foundation placed underneath it. While this style of manufactured housing has grown leaps and bounds recently in quality and aesthetics they still seem to carry the stigma earned by years of cheaper less desirable housing choices.
I ran across an article recently Called Shunning Prefab Preconceptions.
There are some mind blowing photos showing newer styles, materials and contemporary feel that will bust your stereotypes all to pieces. Now I just wish there was a company locally offering some of these beauties!
